Next Generation Aviation Recruitors takes the guesswork out of the Recruitment Process!
This page is dedicated to showing the pilot the Recruitment and Application process from first contact with Next Generation Aviation Recruitors to flying on the line.
Typically, a pilot will contact us from an ad on a job board or from word-of-mouth. Our ads generally explain what aircraft we are currently recruiting for and what the requirements are. The pilot candidate will read what we have to offer at the time and make contact with us to ask further questions or to begin the application process.
As far as questions are concerned, we ask that pilots refer to our Frequently Asked Questions page before calling us. We receive hundreds of responses by email and phone each day, and although we would like to be able to respond quickly, you may not get your answer until the next day.
Once you have made the decision to apply, you will then visit our APPLY NOW! page, and follow the instruction for the online application and supply us with the required documents. It is important that you gather and send each document so that we can submit a complete package to Air India. We realize that some documents, such as the FAA letters may take a couple of days, but don't let that stop you from sending in all of the other documents. Often the FAA will send that document straight to us.
Most of the documents can be quickly scanned or faxed to us. However, it is important to remember that the FAA ATP License and Passport MUST be sent to us in color. If you do not have access to a scanner for this, you can always take a digital photograph of these documents and email them to us.
Once we have received all documents and your Application Package is complete, we will send it
electronically to our Mumbai office where it will be printed in 6 sets and hand delivered to the Air India offices. Now your Application Package will be reviewed by a team of Air India Captains. Air India has an excellent safety record and takes the approval of its pilots very seriously. The approval process from Air India can take between 1-3 weeks depending on the workload and holidays.
Once approved by Air India, you will be notified by your assigned recruitor by phone and email. Air India will then forward your Application Package to the DGCA, Director General of Civil Aviation for security and background checks. This process takes a little longer, approx. 4 weeks. This is because the DGCA has to verify and confer with numerous other government agencies, including your home country's. (B737NG Captains - If you are in need of Difference Training, this is the time to do some research.)
Once approved by the DGCA, again you will be notified and then sent an official copy of the contract. You must sign this contract which states that you will continue with the Application Process and agree to be hired upon successful completion of your screening and simulator evaluation. you will also be sent an official letter from Air India that you need to aquire an Indian Employment Visa. You will need to pay for this and submit an invoice to NexGen for reimbusrment.
Next you will be asked to provide us with dates that you will be available to travel to Mumbai for the screening and simulator evaluation. You MUST have a current medical, PC and Difference Training BEFORE you attend the screening. If everything is successful, then AIr India will want you to start familiarization training right away, so you should make arrangements at home as nessessary.
Travel arrangements will me made for you from the closet Air India Station to Mumbai in Business-Class. You must plan your own travel to the closest Air India station but will be reimbursed for it. Upon arrival in Mumbai, a driver will pick you up and take you to the 5-Star hotel that is already set up and paid for you.
IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS TO BRING WITH YOU!
- Original ATP License
- Original License Verification Letter
- Original Medical Certificate
While in Mumbai, you will meet with Air India Captains for a screening and have an opportunity to ask them more detailed questions about the position. They will ask you questions to get to know you, your past history and if you would make a good fit in Air India.
Following the screening, you will be asked to show proficiency and safety in the a simulator evaluation. This evaluation could cover anything from a V1-Cut to cockpit procedures and CRM. Upon successful completion of the screening and simulator evaluation, Air India will authorize NexGen to hire you. The contract will be finalized and you will be scheduled for Familiarization Training, most likely the next day.
Familiarization Training is 3 weeks of Indian Culture, Customs and Guidelines. You will learn Air India Policies and Procedures and attend some simulator events. You are paid your regular monthly salary during this training.
After completing Familiarization Training, you will be rostered and begin your exciting 3 year Air India adventure!
