  1. What airlines will I be flying for?
    Currently, we are recruiting for Air India Charters Limited (Air India Express), National Aviation Company of India Limited (Air India) and Alliance Air.
  2. How does Air India compare to other LCC (Low Cost Carriers)?
    NexGen base pay of $7,300. LCC airlines are offering $8500/month base.
    - Base pay with NexGen is from $7,300 to $9,000 per month, every month.  Other Airlines are offering an "equivalent" of $8,500 per month, but do not pay time off.  With only 39 working weeks...$8,500 X 12 months is  $102,000 per year, or $1,962 per week.  $1,962 X 39 weeks equals $76,518 per year or $6,377 per month.  NexGen will pay $7,300 per month EVERY MONTH as we also pay for time off.

    LCC airlines are offering $2200/month for housing for those expats who move to India.
    - NexGen/Air India pays 100% accommodations at the best hotels available while in India or traveling to your home. (Worth $2,161 per month)


    LCC are offering $12,000/year travel pay.

    NexGen/Air India offers 100% Paid Travel to and from India and your home unlimited times per year. (Business class on Air India for 6 trips = $27,000 worth) We also pay for your family to travel twice per year. (Worth $5,744)


    LCC are offering year end bonus of $6,000.

  3. What Aircraft are you hiring for?
    Boeing 777, Boeing 737NG, ATR-42/72 and Airbus A310 are our priority contracts, however from time to time we have positions for the Boeing 747-400. In the upcoming months, we will be hiring for A318, A320 and A330.
  4. Is there an Interview or Simulator Check?
    Yes, the interview will take place in Mumbai. Air India will fly you to India to meet with them where they will verify your documents and get to know you. The simulator screening will be conducted by a third party contractor. As Air India holds it's Captains to a higher standard than other Indian Airlines, Captains should be expected to be asked to perform satisfactory under any scenario given.
  5. Are you hiring First Officers or Flight Engineers or Flight Attendants (Air Hostesses)?
    At this time we are only hiring Line Captains, Check Captains, TRIs and TREs.
  6. What are the minimum flight hour qualifications for placement?
    To be considered for placement as Captain, you must have a minimum of 100 hours PIC as Captain in the type of aircraft you are seeking to operate.
  7. What is the maximum age limit for consideration?
    We can accept pilots less than age 63. This will allow for a two year contract before the mandatory DGCA cutoff age of 65. For B747-400 maximum age requirement is less than 58.
  8. How are Taxes Paid?
    Taxes are the responsibility of the Pilot, we recommend that you seek taxation advice.
  9. How long does the process take from application to flying the line?
    This all depends on the background check. Complete information will speed up the process, but this can take anywhere from 30-60 days.
  10. Are there Medical Benefits?
    Captains will have to acquire their own medical insurance and Next Generation Aviation Recruitors will reimburse them up to $100 per month.  Captains must forward a copy of their premium bill each month with the reimbursement request.
  11. Is there Sick Leave?
    Yes, AICL will provide the Captains with an entitlement of a maximum of 15 days paid sick leave per year (pro rated for any part year). Such sick leave must be duly approved by a AICL Medical Officer. The sick leave at any one time is not to exceed 5 days. The remaining days of absence, if any, shall be treated as non-availability. The sick leave cannot be carried forward to the next year. The unutilized amount of sick leave shall lapse at the end of each year.
  12. What is the pay cycle?
    Payments are made on the 10th of each month via wire transfer into the account of the pilot's choosing.
  13. Where will I be based?
    There are many choices to choose from including the USA, UK, India, Dubai and Europe depending on the Aircraft being flown. B777 and B747-400 pilots are based at JFK and ORD (B747-400 pilots can also choose LAX). B737NG Pilots are based at Southern India - Cochin, Chenai, Kochi, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthpuram and Coimbatore.
  14. What are the routes for the B737NG?
    Air-India Express offers flights to major international destinations within a distance of around 4 hrs from different cities in India. Most of the flights are quick-turn-around flights with a ground time of around 1-hour at the destinations.

    Currently Air India Express flies to 10 international destinations– Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Muscat, Salalah, Singapore, Bahrain, Doha, and Columbo from 9 Indian cities – Kozhikode, Kochi, Thiruvananthpuram, Mumbai, Delhi, Amritsar, Chennai, Mangalore and Tiruchirapally.
    On the domestic front, we operate on Mumbai-Kochi, Mumbai-Kozhikode, Mumbai-Delhi, Mumbai-Chennai, Delhi-Amritsar, Kozhikode-Kochi, Kozhikode Thiruvananthpuram and Kochi-Thiruvananthpuram sectors.
    Air-India Express, based on market-trends, will be introducing many new destinations, international as well as domestic.

  15. What accommodations can I expect?
    Whilst on duty, you can expect to stay at only 3, 4 or 5 Star-rated Hotels. All accommodations are PAID for by Air India! For Captains wishing to move their families to India, Air India will provide INR 11,000 - 15,000 per month hosing allowance depending on your base city. This affords a 2 bedroom flat. Hotels that pilots will stay at in India are:

  16. Is travel to and from my home included?
    Yes! Air India will pay for your travel from your home city to JFK. For B737NG pilots, Air India will fly you at no expense to your base city in India.
  17. Will Air India pay for my family's travel?
    Yes. Air India will provide travel for family members 2 times per year.
